12 months before the wedding
Select a date for your wedding, so that is not conflicting with any other big events

Create a guest list for the number of guests you want to invite. Each guest will contribute to the amount of money to be spent.
Book your celebrant
Start looking for venues in your chosen area. Make sure you do this as soon as you can as popular venues do get booked up quickly.
Pick a theme for your wedding which could include a colour scheme for clothes, decorations and flowers for instance.
Find the ideal dress for you, shop around and search online for inspiration. Bear in mind you will need to make time for alterations as the wedding day grows closer.
Send out ‘save the date’ invitations to all your guests. Then begin to find out what kind of wedding invitations you want to send out.
6 months before your big day
Start to search for wedding transport for yourselves and your important guests to take them to and from venues.
Make a start on shopping for all your accessories for your wedding day. Such as shoes, jewellery and any other accessories to be worn. This would be the best time to find the grooms outfit, which will match your dress.
Book your hair and make-up artist
Book your honeymoon with your partner and make all the necessary travel arrangements.
Send out all wedding invitations making a note of all the replies and confirmations.
Choose a wedding florist and discuss colour scheme and the flowers for button holes and of course your bouquet.
Find suitable caterers for your wedding making sure you have taste tests and check menu options.
Book all your entertainment checking carefully all final details and not forgetting have a contract and making deposits where necessary.
Book your wedding photographer and videographer for your day. Make sure you view samples of their work and meet them to discuss further before booking.
3 months to go
Make sure you apply for a marriage license this is essential
Book a trial for your hair and make-up so you know what to expect. Don’t forget to take a sample of your wedding dress to show them what you will be wearing on the day.
Book a baker to create your wedding cake. Meet them and have a tasting session and design ideas.
Begin your skin care routine, having regular facials, massages, pedicures and manicures. You want to look your best!
Finalise all details of your wedding, including decorations, religious ceremonies and seating plans if required.
Buy any gifts you wish to present on your wedding day. Also arrange wedding favours to give to guests.
1 month and counting
Select all your wedding songs to present to your band or DJ. Make sure the songs are played in the correct order especially the first dance song.
Arrange a seating plan for all guests.
Attend final wedding dress fitting.
Two weeks before
Confirm every detail of your wedding with all of your suppliers.
Create a schedule for the whole day including timings and where guests will be.
1 week and time’s flying
Pick up your dress and try it on to check fitting. Have a dress rehearsal with shoes, jewellery and any other accessories. Making sure you can walk in your shoes.
